Who we are

Building a Climate Future From the Mountains

ClimateWatch is a youth-led climate think-tank and operational office established under the Northern Citizen Community Board (NCCB), a UN-registered non-profit with Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC since 2007. We serve the frontline and Indigenous communities of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, Pakistan — areas on the frontline of glacial retreat, shifting precipitation patterns, and ecological disruption.

By combining scientific rigor, remote sensing data, and indigenous knowledge, we work to protect our heritage, build local capacity, and ensure that mountain voices shape national and global climate policies.

The reality

Pakistan Is on the Frontline of a Crisis It Did Not Cause

Contribution to Global Emissions

The northern mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral are warming at nearly twice the global average rate, placing our landscapes, ecosystems, and communities in immediate peril.

Our landscapes, from glaciated mountains to coastal plains, face unprecedented risks. Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), changing monsoon seasons, and high-altitude hazards are no longer future projections — they are lived realities for millions of people. We have a moral and scientific duty to act now.
