Press Release: NCCB Announces Establishment of ClimateWatch
GILGIT, PAKISTAN — FEBRUARY 1, 2026
The Northern Citizen Community Board (NCCB), a United Nations ECOSOC Special Consultative Status non-profit, today announced the formal establishment of ClimateWatch as its permanent programmatic office for climate action and policy research.
ClimateWatch will serve as a youth-led climate think-tank and action hub, specializing in high-altitude community adaptation, glacier monitoring education, and grassroots climate policy advocacy. Headquartered in Gilgit with field hubs in Islamabad and Chitral, the office is strategically positioned to connect frontline mountain experiences directly to national and global policy tables.
"Our glaciated landscapes and Indigenous valleys are warming at double the global average rate," said the Chairman of NCCB. "ClimateWatch represents our commitment to scientific evidence, youth leadership, and direct community empowerment in the face of climate breakdown."
